Mark of the Ninja Meets Warhammer: A New Stealth Adventure
The stealth stylings of Mark of the Ninja step into a new universe with the unveiling of Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster. A brand-new trailer for the game was revealed during the Future Games Show at Gamescom, offering a first look at this unique combination of stealth and action.
A Deadly Skaven Assassin
The trailer introduces the main character, an assassin from the rat-like Skaven race. Initially, players will rely on the shadows to maneuver and eliminate enemies. However, as the game progresses, you'll unlock access to weapons like shurikens and a pair of wicked-looking daggers. With growing expertise, players will also be able to deploy an assortment of gadgets to confuse enemies—before delivering lethal blows while remaining unseen.
Release Date and Platforms
The release date for Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster is currently listed as TBC 2027. The game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
Gameplay and Inspirations
This gritty new take on the 2D action platformer draws heavy inspiration from stealth classics like Mark of the Ninja. Players will need to master clever platforming and manipulate line-of-sight mechanics to stay undetected. The atmospheric, grimy environments are true to the Skaven aesthetic, immersing players in their dark and treacherous world.
Additionally, fans of stealth games may notice a nod to another genre favorite, Dishonored, with the inclusion of a rat horde mechanic—a fitting tribute for a game starring the Skaven.
A Mix of Stealth and Combat
While stealth is a core element of the gameplay, the trailer hints that players won't always be able to sneak their way out of danger. One particularly gruesome sequence showcases a massive, muscle-bound rat overpowering the protagonist, emphasizing that sometimes brute force will be unavoidable.
