Sea of Thieves Season 17

Sea of Thieves Season 17 has officially begun, tasking pirates with seeking out members of a mysterious new faction: the Smugglers’ League. The smugglers offer coin in exchange for certain treasures, but some of their most valuable goods are risky to transport across the high seas.

Finding the Smugglers’ League

To begin dealing with the League, players must first locate one of the well-hidden, booby-trapped Smugglers’ Hideouts scattered across the map. Although the League is interested in more conventional treasures, including fine art and fine rum, its primary focus is on explosive Black Powder Barrels—dangerous cargo to carry aboard any ship.

Smugglers’ Route Runs

After discovering a Hideout, players can undertake Smugglers’ Route Runs, which involve delivering often-dangerous cargo from one location to another. Smugglers’ Runs can also be obtained from messages in bottles bearing the Smugglers’ mark.

Recovering Missing Cargo

The League also has valuable cargo that remains unaccounted for, and Smugglers’ Shipwrecks offer enterprising pirates plentiful opportunities for plunder. Missing cargo can be found on the seafloor, washed ashore on beaches, or reclaimed from Skeleton Ships before being returned to the League for a substantial reward.

More Seasonal Content

This marks only Act 1 of the new season. Additional content, including heists, is scheduled to unlock as Acts 2 and 3 arrive throughout September and October.

Cosmetics and Pirate Profiles

The new season also introduces a variety of cosmetics available through the Pirate Emporium, with additional items unlockable through the Plunder Pass. For the first time, players can use extra characters through the new Pirate Profiles system, allowing them to start from scratch with a new pirate without erasing their current progress.
