Bruce Straley's Latest Project Will Be Revealed at The Game Awards
The Game Awards will feature another highly anticipated new game announcement: the debut title from Wildflower Interactive, the studio co-founded by The Last of Us co-creator Bruce Straley. The reveal is confirmed to take place during The Game Awards 2025, with show host Geoff Keighley and Wildflower Interactive jointly announcing the news via a brief teaser video shared on social media.
As studio lead of Wildflower Interactive, Straley brings over two decades of game development experience, most notably during his 17-year tenure at Naughty Dog. At Naughty Dog—Sony’s acclaimed subsidiary—he served as co-creator of The Last of Us alongside Neil Druckmann and directed both Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. His early contributions include art direction for Crash Team Racing and the Jak and Daxter trilogy. Prior to Naughty Dog, Straley worked as an artist at Crystal Dynamics on the Gex series. After departing Naughty Dog in 2022, he publicly launched Wildflower Interactive—a fully remote studio committed to being inclusive, equitable, and collaborative.
Now, years after shaping one of PlayStation’s most celebrated sequels, Straley’s new team will unveil its first project at The Game Awards 2025. Geoff Keighley released a 30-second teaser offering the first glimpse into Wildflower’s work: a serene, cel-shaded forest featuring a bird perched atop a weathered wooden road sign; ambient sounds of wind and wildlife fill the background, while a faint, off-screen voice gently urges, “Come on,” just before the bird takes flight. The clip fades to black, closing with the official logos of Wildflower Interactive and The Game Awards. Notably, the title and genre of the game remain unannounced, inviting speculation based solely on the evocative visuals and tone.
The Game Awards 2025 will air live on Thursday, December 11, across Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok. The broadcast begins at 7:30 PM Eastern Time with a 30-minute pre-show, followed by the main ceremony. While Wildflower Interactive’s reveal is confirmed for the event, its exact placement within the lineup has not been disclosed—fans must watch live to experience the debut firsthand.
Wildflower Interactive Joins a Loaded TGA Schedule
In addition to honoring winners across categories such as Game of the Year, Best Performance, and Players’ Voice, The Game Awards 2025 promises a packed slate of world premieres and extended trailers. Confirmed highlights include deeper looks at Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil Requiem and Sony’s new title Saros>. Alongside these, the show will debut several never-before-seen games—with Wildflower Interactive’s project standing among them.
Reactions to Wildflower’s teaser have been enthusiastic: many fans of Straley’s legacy expressed strong intent to tune in, while others suggested the teaser would have held greater impact if reserved as a full surprise during the live broadcast.
Meanwhile, Naughty Dog closed last year’s Game Awards with the reveal of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet—its first new IP in over a decade. Though the trailer drew mixed reactions, no release window or further details have been confirmed for the PS5 title. Whether Intergalactic returns at this year’s ceremony—or whether Sony and Naughty Dog have alternate plans to sustain fan engagement—remains unknown.
