Neil Druckmann Confirms Unannounced Naughty Dog IP in Development

Neil Druckmann has confirmed he is overseeing an unannounced Naughty Dog IP while remaining actively involved in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Fresh off directing a new episode of HBO’s live-action The Last of Us, Druckmann continues to balance multiple high-profile responsibilities: leading development on Intergalactic, collaborating closely with HBO on the TLoU series, and now revealing that additional projects are underway.

Druckmann’s Role: Executive Oversight, Not Directing

In an interview with Steffan Powell on the Press X to Continue podcast, the The Last of Us creator confirmed that another unannounced IP is in active development at Naughty Dog—alongside Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. While Druckmann declined to disclose specifics about the mystery title, he clarified his involvement is primarily executive: he serves as a producer and “executive” presence in the room—not the lead director. His principal creative focus remains Intergalactic, though even there, he emphasized collaboration with multiple directors.

Speculation Points to an Uncharted Spin-Off

Earlier this year, industry insider Daniel Richtman shared new details about The Last of Us Part 3 and separately reported rumors of a second unannounced Naughty Dog IP. Richtman claimed the project is being directed by Shaun Escayg—best known for co-directing Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Combined with Druckmann’s recent remarks, this has intensified speculation that Naughty Dog’s next title may be an Uncharted spin-off.

Richtman also stated that the unannounced IP has been in development for over three years. For context, Naughty Dog revealed Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet nearly four years into its development cycle—at The Game Awards 2024. Following that precedent, the studio may choose a major upcoming gaming event for the official unveiling of this new IP.

Druckmann’s recent openness about the project further suggests Naughty Dog may be preparing for a public announcement. However, fans should remain cautious: no official confirmation, title, release window, or gameplay details have been disclosed—and all current information remains unverified rumor.
